Alert: UDC August 4 Raft Trip Itinerary Change

NEW SEGMENT: BARRYVILLE TO POND EDDY

To provide a better rafting experience due to current river levels, Kittatinny Canoes has revised the itinerary for the Upper Delaware Council’s 31st Annual Family Raft Trip on Sunday, August 4.

The new, seven-mile segment of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River to be floated is from Barryville to Pond Eddy.

There will be no change in the 9-10 a.m. rendezvous and parking at Kittatinny Canoes’ Adventure Center at 3846 State Rt. 97 in Barryville. Guests will be shuttled back from the Pond Eddy base at the conclusion of their trips, rather than shuttled up to Ten Mile River Access at the beginning as originally planned.

Kittatinny Canoes states that the Barryville to Pond Eddy section “is a whitewater destination with several long stretches of quiet pools. It is ideal for rafters of any experience level and offers intermediate/experienced level canoers and kayakers a challenging section to navigate through. Depending on the water level, this section of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River offers Class 1 & 2 rapids. You will hit Cedar and Shohola rapids plus multiple eddies, sets of shallow riffles and go under 1 bridge on this trip. It is the most convenient paddle for our NY campers with ample picnicking spots and great fishing. In this section paddlers are treated to spectacular views of the swiftly changing river valley, beautiful scenery with lush vegetation, bald eagles, osprey and occasionally whitetail deer.”
