PA Rep. Sandra J. Major to Speak At UDC Awards Dinner April 17
BEACH LAKE, PA – Pennsylvania Representative Sandra J. Major will serve as keynote speaker at the Upper Delaware Council’s 23rd Annual Awards Ceremony on Sunday, April 17. All are invited to attend the banquet that will be held at Central House Family Resort, 81 Milanville Rd., Beach Lake, PA.
Festivities get underway at 3 p.m. in the resort’s Carriage House with a reception featuring hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. A buffet dinner will be served at 4 p.m., followed by Rep. Major’s keynote address and the presentation of awards to those who have contributed to the protection or enhancement of the Upper Delaware River Valley in Pennsylvania and New York.
Rep. Major was elected to serve Pennsylvania’s 111th District in 1994. Her legislative district includes Buckingham, Lebanon, Manchester, Mount Pleasant, Oregon, Scott and Preston Townships, part of Clinton Township, and the Borough of Starrucca in Wayne County.
District offices are located in Montrose and Tunkhannock, with regular visits made to Preston Township in Wayne County.
Prior to her election to the House, Major was Susquehanna County Treasurer and district assistant to the late Rep. Carmel Sirianni. Major is a graduate of Mountain View High School, Keystone Junior College, and attended the University of Scranton.
She was re-elected to the leadership position of Republican Caucus Chairman for the 2011-2012 Session. In that role, she leads all caucus meetings, makes sure that the members have the information needed to make informed decisions, and gives the members the opportunity to voice their concerns and interests. She is also a member of the House Republican Policy Committee.
Major serves as a board member of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, and the Community Foundation of Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties. Other memberships include the National Council of Republican Women, the National Rifle Association, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, President’s Advisory Council for Keystone College, the chambers of commerce in Susquehanna and Wyoming counties, and the first Presbyterian Church in Montrose.
